Meet Ollie
The Otter

Ollie’s Story

Nestled along the banks of a river that twists through quaint little towns in Missouri, there lived a curious and mischievous young otter named Ollie. Ollie loved exploring, but he always felt like something was missing. Ollie didn’t quite fit in with the other otters as they enjoyed splashing and playing. Ollie found himself fascinated by the chugging sounds of a train that passed near the river and waited every day and night to catch a glimpse as it passed by.

One foggy morning, Ollie set off to follow the train tracks. His whiskers twitched with excitement as he waddled along, imagining the adventures that awaited. When he finally reached the train station, he was awestruck by the hustle and bustle—suitcases rolling, passengers laughing, and, most importantly, the gleaming train itself.

Driven by curiosity, Ollie snuck onto the train unnoticed, curling up in an empty cargo car filled with cozy blankets. He thought he’d just take a quick nap, but the gentle rocking of the train lulled him into a deep sleep. By the time Ollie woke up, the train was already miles away from his river home.

At first, the train crew was startled to find an otter scampering through the aisles, but Ollie’s playful antics quickly won them over. He fetched loose tools for the conductor, balanced precariously on his tail to entertain passengers and even helped wake up sleepy travelers with gentle pats from his little paws. It wasn’t long before the crew couldn’t imagine the train without Ollie and Ollie finally felt like he found his home where he fit in.

Word of the “train otter” spread quickly. Passengers began bringing Ollie treats and toys, and the train station started keeping a special little pool near the tracks for him to splash in during stops. Ollie, once a lonely little explorer, had found not just a home but a family in the train crew and passengers.

Now, Ollie is more than just a mascot—he’s a symbol of adventure, kindness and the unexpected joys that come when you follow your dreams. To this day, if you ride that train, you might spot Ollie perched proudly in the conductor’s seat or waving his little paw as the train pulls out of the station.
